Convexed Origins

For moving flutist (flute, piccolo and bass flute), and pre-recorded audio, this work was deeply influenced by my experience in Japan during my Japan-US Friendship Commission residency in 2009-10, studying with the master Noh performer Hisa Uzawa and her daughter Hiraku Uzawa. They taught me about the ancient Noh tradition and graciously shared with me ancient storytelling perspectives and the power of the breath. I am deeply indebted to their generosity and graciousness.
